Yes. Under HRM regulations, businesses installing any new permanent on-site commercial signage must obtain an official sign permit. Depending on your location and design, additional approvals may be required:

• Encroachment License: Required if a projecting sign extends over a municipal sidewalk or street right-of-way.
• Certificate of Appropriateness: Required if your business is located within a designated Heritage Conservation District (such as Downtown Halifax or the Barrington Street district).
• Right-of-Way (ROWD) Permit: Typically required for the physical installation process if it impacts municipal property.

Note: Billboards, roof signs, and fluorescent colors are generally prohibited in the Downtown Halifax zone.

The cost of custom signage in Halifax depends on several factors, including the type and size of the sign, materials, lighting, design complexity, printing requirements, installation method, and project location. The most accurate way to determine pricing is to request a custom quote after discussing your signage needs and reviewing the installation site.

Custom signage projects typically take 2–4 weeks from design to installation, depending on the project’s complexity, permitting requirements, materials, and installation needs.

Absolutely. Signage in Halifax must endure heavy coastal winds, freezing rain, intense winter storms, and humid summers. We construct our exterior signs using high-quality, weatherproof materials such as marine-grade aluminum, heavy-duty iron structural framing, rust-resistant stainless steel hardware, and UV-stable acrylics and vinyls. Our structural signs are engineered specifically to handle the local climate and look great for years to come.

A vehicle wrap covers most or all of the vehicle with a custom design for maximum visual impact and branding. Vehicle graphics or decals typically use lettering, logos, and other elements applied to specific areas, making them a more cost-effective option for businesses and fleets.
